[79] Bhikkhus, the act of demotion (niyassakamma) of a bhikkhu who possesses eight qualities should not be revoked:
1. He suspends the Uposatha of a regular bhikkhu (pakatatta);
2. He suspends the Pavāraṇā (of a regular bhikkhu);
3. He issues a directive (savacanīya);
4. He initiates a charge (anuvāda);
5. He has (a bhikkhu) grant leave (okāsa, for reproving);
6. He reproves (a bhikkhu);
7. He reminds (a bhikkhu of an offence);
8. He sets bhikkhus at odds with bhikkhus.
Bhikkhus, the act of demotion of a bhikkhu who possesses these eight qualities should not be revoked.
The eighteen cases where (the act) should not be revoked are finished.
