[212] Now at that time a certain bhikkhu, having finished roofing a dwelling, was climbing down. Another bhikkhu said to that bhikkhu, "Friend, climb down this way." Climbing down that way, he fell and died. The other was remorseful … "Bhikkhu, there is no offense (āpatti) for one who does not intend death." Now at that time a certain bhikkhu, having finished roofing a dwelling, was climbing down. Another bhikkhu, intending his death, said to that bhikkhu, "Friend, climb down this way." Climbing down that way, he fell and died … he fell but did not die. The other was remorseful … "Bhikkhu, there is no offense of pārājika; there is an offense of thullaccaya."
