[530] "Bhikkhus, and how does one anticipate the future? Thinking, 'May I have such form (rūpa) in the future,' one directs delight (nandī) toward that; thinking, 'May I have such feeling (vedanā) …'; 'May I have such perception (saññā) …'; 'May I have such volitional formations (saṅkhārā) …'; thinking, 'May I have such consciousness (viññāṇa) in the future,' one directs delight toward that. Thus indeed, bhikkhus, does one anticipate the future."
