[541] "And how, friends, does one not anticipate the future? Thinking, 'May I have such form (rūpa) in the future,' one does not pursue delight therein; thinking, 'May I have such feeling (vedanā) …'; 'May I have such perception (saññā) …'; 'May I have such volitional formations (saṅkhārā) …'; thinking, 'May I have such consciousness (viññāṇa) in the future,' one does not pursue delight therein. It is in this way, friends, that one does not anticipate the future."
