[539] "And how, friends, does one not run back to the past? Thinking, 'I had such form (rūpa) in the past,' one does not pursue delight therein. Thinking, 'I had such feeling (vedanā) in the past,' one does not pursue delight therein. Thinking, 'I had such perception (saññā) in the past,' one does not pursue delight therein. Thinking, 'I had such volitional formations (saṅkhārā) in the past,' one does not pursue delight therein. Thinking, 'I had such consciousness (viññāṇa) in the past,' one does not pursue delight therein. This, friends, is how one does not run back to the past."
