[289] "And how, bhikkhus, is it that for a bhikkhu who develops the noble eightfold path (ariya aṭṭhaṅgika magga), who cultivates the noble eightfold path, the fetters (saṃyojana) subside without difficulty and become rotten? Here, bhikkhus, a bhikkhu develops right view (sammādiṭṭhi) … he develops right concentration (samādhi) (sammāsamādhi), based upon seclusion (viveka), based upon dispassion (virāga), based upon cessation, maturing in release (vossaggapariṇāmi). It is in this way, bhikkhus, that for a bhikkhu who develops the noble eightfold path, who cultivates the noble eightfold path, the fetters subside without difficulty and become rotten."
