Suttapiṭaka · Saṁyuttanikāya · Mahāvaggasaṁyutta · Vol. 19 · Section 359

[359] And what, bhikkhus, is the nutriment (āhāra) for the arising of unarisen ill will (byāpāda), or for the increase and expansion of ill will that has already arisen? There is, bhikkhus, the sign of the repulsive (paṭighanimitta): frequently giving careless attention (ayoniso manasikāra) to it — this is the nutriment for the arising of unarisen ill will, or for the increase and expansion of ill will that has already arisen.
