[802] Setting at Sāvatthī. "Bhikkhus, these four establishments of mindfulness (satipaṭṭhāna), when developed and cultivated, lead to going from the near shore (apāra) to the far shore (pāra). What four? Here, bhikkhus, a bhikkhu dwells contemplating the body in the body, ardent, clearly comprehending, mindful, having removed covetousness and grief regarding the world. He dwells contemplating feeling (vedanā) in feelings, mind (citta) in the mind, dhammas in dhammas, ardent, clearly comprehending, mindful, having removed covetousness and grief regarding the world. These, bhikkhus, are the four establishments of mindfulness which, when developed and cultivated, lead to going from the near shore to the far shore."
