[444] **"Whatever [bhikkhu]"** means: whoever, of whatever sort … . **"Bhikkhu"** means: … this one is the **bhikkhu** intended in this sense. **"Not a relative" (aññātikā)** means: one not connected through the mother or through the father back through seven generations of paternal forebears. **"Bhikkhunī"** means: one fully ordained in both Saṅghas. **"Robe-cloth" (cīvara)** means: any one of the six kinds of robe-cloth, at minimum one fit for formal assignment (vikappana). **"Except in exchange"** means: setting aside an exchange, if he gives it, there is an offense of pācittiya.
