Vinayapiṭaka · Bhikkhunī Vibhaṅga · Vol. 3 · Section 365

[365] **"Whatever" (yā pana):** whoever, of whatever sort … [elided in the Pali]. **"Bhikkhunī":** … [elided in the Pali] — this is the bhikkhunī intended in this context. **"Pregnant woman" (gabbhinī):** one in whom a being has been conceived (āpannasattā) is what is meant. **"Should ordain" (vuṭṭhāpeyya):** should give full ordination (upasampādeyya). If, thinking "I shall ordain her," she searches for a group (gaṇa), or a teacher (ācarinī), or a bowl, or a robe, or agrees upon a boundary (sīmā): an offense of wrong-doing (dukkaṭa). With the motion (ñatti): a dukkaṭa. With the two proclamations of the act (kammavācā): dukkaṭas. At the conclusion of the proclamations of the act: for the preceptor (upajjhāyā), an offense entailing expiation (pācittiya); for the group and for the teacher, an offense of wrong-doing.
