Vinayapiṭaka · Bhikkhunī Vibhaṅga · Vol. 3 · Section 377

[377] "Whatever" (*yā pana*): whoever, of whatever sort … . "Bhikkhunī": … — this one is the bhikkhunī intended in this meaning. "Two rains" (*dve vassāni*): two years (saṃvaccharāni). "One who has completed the training" (*sikkhitasikkhā*): one who has trained in the training in the six dhammas. "Not agreed upon" (*asammatā*): the agreement for ordination (vuṭṭhānasammuti) has not been given by means of a formal act consisting of a motion and one proclamation (ñattidutiya-kamma). "Should ordain" (*vuṭṭhāpeyya*): should give the full admission (upasampadā). Thinking, "I will ordain her," she searches for a group (gaṇa), or a teacher (ācarinī), or a bowl, or a robe, or she agrees upon a boundary (sīmā): an offense of wrong-doing (dukkaṭa). For the motion, an offense of wrong-doing; for the two proclamations of the formal act (kammavācā), offenses of wrong-doing; at the conclusion of the proclamations of the formal act, for the preceptor (upajjhāyā) there is an offense entailing expiation (pācittiya); for the group and for the teacher, an offense of wrong-doing.
