[406] **"Whatever" (yā pana):** whoever, of whatever sort … **"Bhikkhunī":** … this is the bhikkhunī intended in this context. **"Who has completed twenty years" (paripuṇṇavīsativassā):** one who has attained twenty years. **"A maiden" (kumārībhūtā):** a female novice (sāmaṇerī) is what is meant. **"For two years" (dve vassāni):** for two twelve-month periods. **"Who has not trained in the training" (asikkhitasikkhā):** either the training has not been given, or, having been given, the training has been broken. **"Should ordain" (vuṭṭhāpeyya):** should give full ordination (upasampādeyya). Thinking, "I shall ordain her," if she seeks a group (gaṇa), or a woman teacher (ācarinī), or a bowl, or a robe, or if she agrees upon a boundary (sīmā): an offense of wrong-doing (dukkaṭa). For the motion (ñatti): a dukkaṭa. For the two proclamations (kammavācā): dukkaṭas. At the conclusion of the proclamations: for the preceptor (upajjhāyā), an offense of pācittiya; for the group and for the teacher, an offense of wrong-doing.
