[666] Which phenomena (dhammā) are clung-to and subject to clinging (upādinnupādāniyā)? The resultants (vipāka) of wholesome and unwholesome phenomena — resultants that are accompanied by taints (sāsava) and belong to the sense sphere (kāmāvacara), the form sphere (rūpāvacara), the formless sphere (arūpāvacara): the aggregate of feeling (vedanākkhandha) … the aggregate of consciousness (viññāṇakkhandha); and whatever form there is due to kamma having been done — these phenomena are clung-to and subject to clinging. Which phenomena are not clung-to but subject to clinging (anupādinnupādāniyā)? Wholesome and unwholesome phenomena accompanied by taints, belonging to the sense sphere, the form sphere, the formless sphere: the aggregate of feeling … the aggregate of consciousness; and those phenomena that are functional (kiriya) — neither wholesome nor unwholesome, and not resultants of kamma; and whatever form there is not due to kamma having been done — these phenomena are not clung-to but subject to clinging. Which phenomena are neither clung-to nor subject to clinging (anupādinnānupādāniyā)? The unincluded (apariyāpanna) paths, the fruits of the paths (maggaphala), and the unconditioned element (asaṅkhatā dhātu) — these phenomena are neither clung-to nor subject to clinging.
