[1] [Sakavādin:] "Is the person (puggala) apprehended in a real and ultimate sense (sacchikaṭṭha-paramaṭṭhena)?"
[Paravādin:] "Yes."
[Sakavādin:] "Whatever is real and ultimate — is that person apprehended therefrom (tato), in a real and ultimate sense?"
[Paravādin:] "It should not be said thus."
[Sakavādin:] "Acknowledge the refutation (niggaha)! If the person is apprehended in a real and ultimate sense, then indeed, good sir, it should be said: 'Whatever is real and ultimate, therefrom is that person apprehended, in a real and ultimate sense.' What you say there — 'It should indeed be said that the person is apprehended in a real and ultimate sense, but it should not be said that whatever is real and ultimate, therefrom is that person apprehended, in a real and ultimate sense' — is wrong. But if it should not be said that whatever is real and ultimate, therefrom is that person apprehended, in a real and ultimate sense, then indeed, good sir, it should not be said that the person is apprehended in a real and ultimate sense. What you say there — 'It should indeed be said that the person is apprehended in a real and ultimate sense, but it should not be said that whatever is real and ultimate, therefrom is that person apprehended, in a real and ultimate sense' — is wrong."
