[7] [Sakavādin:] Is the person (puggala) apprehended in the real and ultimate sense (sacchikaṭṭhaparamaṭṭhena)?
[Paravādin:] Yes.
[Sakavādin:] Whatever is real and ultimate — is that person apprehended, in accordance with that, in the real and ultimate sense?
[Paravādin:] It should not be said thus.
[Sakavādin:] Acknowledge the rejoinder (paṭikamma): If the person is apprehended in the real and ultimate sense, then indeed, good sir, it should be said: 'Whatever is real and ultimate — that person is apprehended, in accordance with that, in the real and ultimate sense.' What you say there — namely: 'It should indeed be said that the person is apprehended in the real and ultimate sense, but it should not be said that, whatever is real and ultimate, that person is apprehended, in accordance with that, in the real and ultimate sense' — is wrong. But if it should not be said that, whatever is real and ultimate, that person is apprehended, in accordance with that, in the real and ultimate sense, then indeed, good sir, it should not be said: 'The person is apprehended in the real and ultimate sense.' What you say there — namely: 'It should indeed be said that the person is apprehended in the real and ultimate sense, but it should not be said that, whatever is real and ultimate, that person is apprehended, in accordance with that, in the real and ultimate sense' — is wrong.
