[17] S. Is the person (puggala) apprehended in the sense of a real and ultimate fact (sacchikaṭṭha-paramaṭṭha), and is form (rūpa) apprehended in the sense of a real and ultimate fact?

S. Is form one thing, and the person another?
P. That should not be said.
S. Acknowledge the refutation (niggaha): If the person is apprehended in the sense of a real and ultimate fact, and form is apprehended in the sense of a real and ultimate fact, then indeed, good sir, it should be said that form is one thing and the person another. What you say there — that it should indeed be said, "The person is apprehended in the sense of a real and ultimate fact, and form is apprehended in the sense of a real and ultimate fact," but that it should not be said, "Form is one thing, the person another" — is wrong. But if it should not be said, "Form is one thing, the person another," then indeed, good sir, it should not be said, "The person is apprehended in the sense of a real and ultimate fact, and form is apprehended in the sense of a real and ultimate fact."
