Suddhasaṅkhāravāra

Abhidhammapiṭaka · Yamaka (1) · Vol. 38 · Section 1046

[1046] Where the bodily formation (kāyasaṅkhāra) does not arise, does the verbal formation (vacīsaṅkhāra) not arise there? In the form sphere (rūpāvacara) and in the formless sphere (arūpāvacara): there the bodily formation does not arise, but it is not the case that there the verbal formation does not arise. In the fourth jhāna and among the non-percipient beings (asaññasatta): there the bodily formation does not arise and the verbal formation does not arise. Or rather, where the verbal formation does not arise, does the bodily formation not arise there? In the second jhāna and in the third jhāna: there the verbal formation does not arise, but it is not the case that there the bodily formation does not arise. In the fourth jhāna and among the non-percipient beings: there the verbal formation does not arise and the bodily formation does not arise.
