[1052] For whomever, wherever, the bodily formation (kāyasaṅkhāra) arose, did the verbal formation (vacīsaṅkhāra) arise for that one there?
For those who have attained the second jhāna or the third jhāna, the bodily formation arose for them there, but the verbal formation did not arise for them there. For those who have attained the first jhāna and for those of the sense sphere (kāmāvacara), the bodily formation arose for them there and the verbal formation also arose for them there.
Or rather, for whomever, wherever, the verbal formation arose, did the bodily formation arise for that one there?
For those of the form sphere (rūpāvacara) and those of the formless sphere (arūpāvacara), the verbal formation arose for them there, but the bodily formation did not arise for them there. For those who have attained the first jhāna and for those of the sense sphere, the verbal formation arose for them there and the bodily formation also arose for them there.
