[1138] For whomever and wherever the bodily formation (kāyasaṅkhāra) will not cease, will the verbal formation (vacīsaṅkhāra) of that one not cease there?
For sense-sphere (kāmāvacara) beings at the moment of arising (uppādakkhaṇa) of the final mind (pacchimacitta), for those immediately after whose mind (citta) the final mind of sense-sphere beings will arise, and for beings of the form sphere (rūpāvacara) and of the formless sphere (arūpāvacara) — for them, there, the bodily formation will not cease, yet it is not the case that for them, there, the verbal formation will not cease. At the moment of dissolution (bhaṅgakkhaṇa) of the final mind accompanied by thought and examination (savitakka-savicāra), for those endowed with the final mind without thought and without examination (avitakka-avicāra), for those immediately after whose mind the final mind without thought and without examination will arise, for those who have attained the fourth jhāna (catutthajjhāna), and for non-percipient beings (asaññasattā) — for them, there, both the bodily formation will not cease and the verbal formation will not cease.
Or: for whomever and wherever the verbal formation will not cease, will the bodily formation of that one not cease there?
For those who have attained the second jhāna or the third jhāna — for them, there, the verbal formation will not cease, yet it is not the case that for them, there, the bodily formation will not cease. At the moment of dissolution of the final mind accompanied by thought and examination, for those endowed with the final mind without thought and without examination, for those immediately after whose mind the final mind without thought and without examination will arise, for those who have attained the fourth jhāna, and for non-percipient beings — for them, there, both the verbal formation will not cease and the bodily formation will not cease.
