Suddhasaṅkhāravāra

Abhidhammapiṭaka · Yamaka (1) · Vol. 38 · Section 1183

[1183] For whom the bodily formation (kāyasaṅkhāra) does not arise, does that one's verbal formation (vacīsaṅkhāra) not cease? At the moment of dissolution of thought (vitakka) and examination (vicāra), their bodily formation does not arise, yet it is not the case that their verbal formation does not cease. At the moment of arising of a mind (citta) without in-breaths and out-breaths (assāsa-passāsā), at the moment of dissolution of a mind without thought and examination, for those who have attained cessation (nirodhasamāpanna) and for non-percipient beings (asaññasattā), their bodily formation does not arise and their verbal formation does not cease. Or rather, for whom the verbal formation does not cease, does that one's bodily formation not arise? At the moment of arising of the in-breaths and out-breaths, their verbal formation does not cease, yet it is not the case that their bodily formation does not arise. At the moment of arising of a mind without in-breaths and out-breaths, at the moment of dissolution of a mind without thought and examination, for those who have attained cessation and for non-percipient beings, their verbal formation does not cease and their bodily formation does not arise.
