One endowed with the path of non-returning (anāgāmimaggasamaṅgī) does not abandon the latent tendency of doubt, the latent tendency of conceit, and the latent tendency of view, but it is not the case that he does not abandon the latent tendency of sensual lust and the latent tendency of repulsion. One endowed with the highest path (aggamaggasamaṅgī) does not abandon the latent tendency of doubt, the latent tendency of sensual lust, the latent tendency of repulsion, and the latent tendency of view, but it is not the case that he does not abandon the latent tendency of conceit. Excepting those endowed with the two paths and the eighth person (aṭṭhamaka), the remaining persons (puggalā) do not abandon the latent tendency of doubt, and they do not abandon the latent tendency of sensual lust, the latent tendency of repulsion, the latent tendency of conceit, and the latent tendency of view. …
