[473] For whom the form base (rūpāyatana) does not arise, will the mind base (manāyatana) … the dhamma base (dhammāyatana) not arise for him?
For all who are passing away and for formless beings who are being reborn, the form base does not arise, but it is not the case that the dhamma base will not arise for them. For those attaining final Nibbāna (parinibbāna) in the five-constituent existence (pañcavokāra) and for beings in their final existence (pacchimabhavika) in the formless realm, the form base does not arise and the dhamma base will not arise.
Or, for whom the dhamma base will not arise, does the form base not arise for him?
For beings in their final existence who are being reborn into the five-constituent existence, the dhamma base will not arise, but it is not the case that the form base does not arise for them. For those attaining final Nibbāna in the five-constituent existence and for beings in their final existence in the formless realm, the dhamma base will not arise and the form base does not arise.
