[484] For whom, where, the form base (rūpāyatana) does not arise, will the mind base (manāyatana) not arise for that one there?
For those who are passing away from the five-constituent plane (pañcavokāra) and for formless beings (arūpā), the form base does not arise for them there, but it is not the case that the mind base will not arise for them there. For those who are attaining final Nibbāna (parinibbāna) in the five-constituent plane, for those in their final existence (pacchimabhavika) in the formless plane, and for those who are passing away from the non-percipient beings (asaññasatta), the form base does not arise for them there and the mind base will not arise.
Or, for whom, where, the mind base will not arise, does the form base not arise for that one there?
For those in their final existence who are being reborn into the five-constituent plane and for those who are being reborn among the non-percipient beings, the mind base will not arise for them there, but it is not the case that the form base does not arise for them there. For those who are attaining final Nibbāna in the five-constituent plane, for those in their final existence in the formless plane, and for those who are passing away from the non-percipient beings, the mind base will not arise for them there and the form base does not arise.
