[516] For whomever, wherever, the nose sense base (ghānāyatana) did not arise, will the mind sense base (manāyatana) not arise for that one there?
For beings of the form sphere (rūpāvacara) and of the formless sphere (arūpāvacara), the nose sense base did not arise for them there, but it is not the case that the mind sense base will not arise for them there. For those in their final existence (pacchimabhavika) in the form sphere and in the formless sphere, and for non-percipient beings (asaññasatta), the nose sense base did not arise for them there and the mind sense base will not arise.
Or else, for whomever, wherever, the mind sense base will not arise, did the nose sense base not arise for that one there?
For those in their final existence in the sensual sphere (kāmāvacara), the mind sense base will not arise for them there, but it is not the case that the nose sense base did not arise for them there. For those in their final existence in the form sphere and in the formless sphere, and for non-percipient beings, the mind sense base will not arise for them there and the nose sense base did not arise.
