[609] For whatever being in whatever plane the nose sense-base (ghānāyatana) does not cease, has the mind sense-base (manāyatana) of that being in that plane never ceased?
For those who are being reborn into the sense sphere (kāmāvacara), for those without the nose base (aghānaka) who are passing away from the sense sphere, for form-sphere beings (rūpāvacara), and for formless-sphere beings (arūpāvacara), the nose sense-base of those beings in that plane does not cease, but it is not the case that the mind sense-base of those beings in that plane has never ceased. For beings of the Pure Abodes (Suddhāvāsa) and for non-percipient beings (asaññasatta), for those beings in that plane both the nose sense-base does not cease and the mind sense-base has never ceased.
Or rather, for whatever being in whatever plane the mind sense-base has never ceased, does the nose sense-base of that being in that plane not cease?
Yes (āmantā).
