[649] For whomever, wherever, the nose base (ghānāyatana) does not cease, will the phenomena base (dhammāyatana) not cease for that one there?
For all those who are arising (upapajjanta), and for those without the nose (aghānaka) who are passing away (cavanta): for them there the nose base does not cease, yet it is not the case that the phenomena base will not cease for them there. For those attaining final Nibbāna (parinibbanta) in the form sphere (rūpāvacara) and the formless sphere (arūpāvacara): for them there both the nose base does not cease and the phenomena base will not cease.
Or: for whomever, wherever, the phenomena base will not cease, does the nose base not cease for that one there?
For those attaining final Nibbāna in the sense sphere (kāmāvacara): for them there the phenomena base will not cease, yet it is not the case that the nose base does not cease for them there. For those attaining final Nibbāna in the form sphere and the formless sphere: for them there both the phenomena base will not cease and the nose base does not cease.
