[624] For whomever, wherever, the eye base (cakkhāyatana) ceases, will the nose base (ghānāyatana) cease for that one there?
For those attaining final Nibbāna in the sense sphere (kāmāvacara) and for those passing away from the form sphere (rūpāvacara): for them, there, the eye base ceases, but the nose base will not cease for them there. For the others — those possessing the eye — who are passing away from the sense sphere: for them, there, the eye base ceases and the nose base will cease.
Or else: for whomever, wherever, the nose base … .
Just as [the section on] the past together with the present was elaborated in the three ways, so should this too be elaborated.
