[589] For whomever, wherever, the eye base (cakkhāyatana) ceases, did the nose base (ghānāyatana) cease for that one there?
For those passing away from the form sphere (rūpāvacara), the eye base ceases for them there, but the nose base did not cease for them there. For those possessed of eyes passing away from the sense sphere (kāmāvacara), for them there the eye base ceases and the nose base did cease.
Or else, for whomever, wherever, the nose base did cease, does the eye base cease for that one there?
For those being reborn into the sense sphere and for those without eyes passing away from the sense sphere, the nose base did cease for them there, but the eye base does not cease for them there. For those possessed of eyes passing away from the sense sphere, for them there the nose base did cease and the eye base ceases.
