[615] "For whom the eye base (cakkhāyatana) ceases, will the nose base (ghānāyatana) cease for that one?"
For those attaining final Nibbāna in the five-constituent existence (pañcavokāra), and for those who, having been reborn in the form sphere (rūpāvacara) or the formless sphere (arūpāvacara), will attain final Nibbāna — for these, as they are passing away, the eye base ceases, but the nose base will not cease for them. For the others possessed of eyes, as they are passing away, for them both the eye base ceases and the nose base will cease.
