[678] For whomever, wherever, the eye base (cakkhāyatana) has not ceased, will the form base (rūpāyatana) not cease for that one there?
For those being reborn into the Pure Abodes (Suddhāvāsa) and for non-percipient beings (asaññasattā), the eye base has not ceased for them there, but it is not the case that the form base will not cease for them there. For those attaining final Nibbāna in the Pure Abodes and for formless beings (arūpā), the eye base has not ceased for them there, and the form base will not cease.
Or else, for whomever, wherever, the form base will not cease, has the eye base not ceased for that one there?
For those attaining final Nibbāna in the five-constituent existence (pañcavokāra), the form base will not cease for them there, but it is not the case that the eye base has not ceased for them there. For those attaining final Nibbāna in the Pure Abodes and for formless beings, the form base will not cease for them there, and the eye base has not ceased.
