[606] For whomever in whatever plane the eye base (cakkhāyatana) is not ceasing, has the mind base (manāyatana) of that one in that plane never ceased?
For those being reborn into the five-constituent existence (pañcavokāra), for those without eyes who are passing away from the sense sphere (kāmāvacara), and for formless beings (arūpa): the eye base of those beings in that plane is not ceasing, yet it is not the case that the mind base of those beings in that plane has never ceased. For those being reborn into the Pure Abodes (Suddhāvāsa) and for non-percipient beings (asaññasatta): the eye base of those beings in that plane is not ceasing, and the mind base has never ceased.
Or, for whomever in whatever plane the mind base has never ceased, is the eye base of that one in that plane not ceasing?
For those attaining final Nibbāna (parinibbāna) in the Pure Abodes: the mind base of those beings in that plane has never ceased, yet it is not the case that the eye base of those beings in that plane is not ceasing. For those being reborn into the Pure Abodes and for non-percipient beings: the mind base of those beings in that plane has never ceased, and the eye base is not ceasing.
