[680] For whomever, wherever, the eye base (cakkhāyatana) has not ceased, will the dhamma base (dhammāyatana) not cease for that one there?
For those being reborn into the Pure Abodes (suddhāvāsa), for non-percipient beings (asaññasattā), and for formless beings (arūpā): for them there the eye base has not ceased, but it is not the case that for them there the dhamma base will not cease. For those attaining final Nibbāna (parinibbantā) in the Pure Abodes and for those attaining final Nibbāna in the formless realm: for them there both the eye base has not ceased and the dhamma base will not cease.
Or alternatively, for whomever, wherever, the dhamma base will not cease, has the eye base not ceased for that one there?
For those attaining final Nibbāna in the five-constituent existence (pañcavokāra): for them there the dhamma base will not cease, but it is not the case that for them there the eye base has not ceased. For those attaining final Nibbāna in the Pure Abodes and for those attaining final Nibbāna in the formless realm: for them there both the dhamma base will not cease and the eye base has not ceased.
