[679] For whomever, wherever the eye base (cakkhāyatana) has not ceased, will the mind base (manāyatana) not cease for that one there?
For those being reborn into the Pure Abodes (Suddhāvāsa) and for formless beings (arūpa), the eye base has not ceased for them there, but it is not the case that the mind base will not cease for them there. For those attaining final Nibbāna in the Pure Abodes, for those attaining final Nibbāna in the formless plane, and for non-percipient beings (asaññasatta), both the eye base has not ceased for them there and the mind base will not cease.
Or else, for whomever, wherever the mind base will not cease, has the eye base not ceased for that one there?
For those attaining final Nibbāna in five-aggregate existence (pañcavokāra), the mind base will not cease for them there, but it is not the case that the eye base has not ceased for them there. For those attaining final Nibbāna in the Pure Abodes, for those attaining final Nibbāna in the formless plane, and for non-percipient beings, both the mind base will not cease for them there and the eye base has not ceased.
