[685] For whomever, wherever, the form base (rūpāyatana) has not ceased, will the dhamma base (dhammāyatana) not cease for that one there? For those arising in the Pure Abodes (Suddhāvāsa) and for formless beings, the form base has not ceased for them there, but it is not the case that the dhamma base will not cease for them there. For those attaining final Nibbāna in the Pure Abodes and for those attaining final Nibbāna in the formless plane, for them there the form base has not ceased and the dhamma base will not cease.
Or, for whomever, wherever, the dhamma base will not cease, has the form base not ceased for that one there? For those attaining final Nibbāna in the five-constituent existence (pañcavokāra), the dhamma base will not cease for them there, but it is not the case that the form base has not ceased for them there. For those attaining final Nibbāna in the Pure Abodes and for those attaining final Nibbāna in the formless plane, for them there the dhamma base will not cease and the form base has not ceased.
