[771] For whomever the nose base (ghānāyatana) does not arise, will the form base (rūpāyatana) not cease for that one?
For all who are passing away and for those without nose who are being reborn — for them the nose base does not arise, but it is not the case that the form base will not cease for them. For those attaining final Nibbāna in five-constituent existence (pañcavokāra), for those in their final existence in the formless (arūpa), and for those who, having been reborn in the formless, will attain final Nibbāna, as they are passing away — for them the nose base does not arise and the form base will not cease.
Or else, for whomever the form base … ?
