[954] For whomever, wherever, the truth of suffering (dukkhasacca) does not cease, has the truth of the path (maggasacca) never ceased for that one there?
For those who have realized [the truths] (abhisametāvī) — when they are being reborn, at the arising moment (uppādakkhaṇa) of mind (citta) in the course of existence (pavatti), and, in the immaterial plane (arūpa), at the dissolution moment (bhaṅgakkhaṇa) of the path and of fruition (phala) — for them, there, the truth of suffering does not cease, yet it is not the case that the truth of the path has never ceased for them there. For those of the Pure Abodes (suddhāvāsa) at the arising moment of the rebirth-mind (upapatticitta); for those who have not realized [the truths] when they are being reborn and at the arising moment of mind in the course of existence; and for those being reborn among the non-percipient beings (asaññasatta) — for them, there, the truth of suffering does not cease and the truth of the path has never ceased.
Or, for whomever, wherever, the truth of the path has never ceased, does the truth of suffering not cease for that one there?
For those of the Pure Abodes at the dissolution moment of the rebirth-mind; for those who have not realized [the truths] when they are passing away and at the dissolution moment of mind in the course of existence; and for those passing away from the non-percipient beings — for them, there, the truth of the path has never ceased, yet it is not the case that the truth of suffering does not cease for them there. For those of the Pure Abodes at the arising moment of the rebirth-mind; for those who have not realized [the truths] when they are being reborn and at the arising moment of mind in the course of existence; and for those being reborn among the non-percipient beings — for them, there, the truth of the path has never ceased and the truth of suffering does not cease.
