[1108] For whom the equanimity faculty (upekkhindriya) arises, will the faith faculty (saddhindriya) arise for him?
At the moment of the arising (uppādakkhaṇa) of the final mind (pacchima-citta) associated (sampayutta) with equanimity (upekkhā): for those [beings] the equanimity faculty arises, but the faith faculty will not arise for them. For the others — for those being reborn with equanimity, [and] in the course of existence (pavatti) at the moment of the arising of a mind (citta) associated with equanimity — for them both the equanimity faculty arises and the faith faculty will arise.
Or else, for whom the faith faculty will arise, does the equanimity faculty arise for him?
For all [beings] at the moment of the dissolution (bhaṅgakkhaṇa) of mind; at the moment of the arising of a mind dissociated (vippayutta) from equanimity; for those who have attained cessation (nirodhasamāpanna); and for non-percipient beings (asaññasatta): for them the faith faculty will arise, but the equanimity faculty does not arise for them. For those being reborn with equanimity, [and] in the course of existence at the moment of the arising of a mind associated with equanimity: for them both the faith faculty will arise and the equanimity faculty arises.
