[1143] For whom, wherever, the joy faculty (somanassindriya) arises, will the faith faculty (saddhindriya) … the wisdom faculty (paññindriya), the mind faculty (manindriya) arise for that one there?
At the moment of arising (uppādakkhaṇa) of the final mind (pacchima-citta) associated with joy, the joy faculty arises for those [beings] there, but the mind faculty will not arise for them there. For the others — for those being reborn with joy, [and,] in the course of existence (pavatti), at the moment of arising of a mind (citta) associated with joy — both the joy faculty arises for them there and the mind faculty will arise.
Or rather, for whom, wherever, the mind faculty will arise, does the joy faculty arise for that one there?
For all [beings] at the moment of dissolution (bhaṅgakkhaṇa) of the mind, [and] at the moment of arising of a mind dissociated from joy, the mind faculty will arise for them there, but the joy faculty does not arise for them there. For those being reborn with joy, [and,] in the course of existence, at the moment of arising of a mind associated with joy, both the mind faculty will arise for them there and the joy faculty arises.
