[596] For whomever, wherever, the joy faculty (somanassindriya) arises, does the wisdom faculty (paññindriya) arise for that one there?
For those being reborn (upapajjanta) with joy (somanassa) but dissociated from (vippayutta) knowledge (ñāṇa), and, in the course of existence (pavatta), at the moment of arising (uppādakkhaṇa) of a mind (citta) associated with (sampayutta) joy but dissociated from knowledge — for them, there, the joy faculty arises, but the wisdom faculty does not arise for them there. For those being reborn with joy and associated with knowledge, and, in the course of existence, at the moment of arising of a mind associated with joy and associated with knowledge — for them, there, both the joy faculty arises and the wisdom faculty arises.
Or rather, for whomever, wherever, the wisdom faculty arises, does the joy faculty arise for that one there?
For those being reborn associated with knowledge but without joy, and, in the course of existence, at the moment of arising of a mind associated with knowledge but dissociated from joy — for them, there, the wisdom faculty arises, but the joy faculty does not arise for them there. For those being reborn associated with knowledge and with joy, and, in the course of existence, at the moment of arising of a mind associated with knowledge and associated with joy — for them, there, both the wisdom faculty arises and the joy faculty arises.
