[712] For whomever, wherever, the joy faculty (somanassindriya) does not arise, does the wisdom faculty (paññindriya) not arise for that one, there?
For those being reborn without joy, associated with knowledge (ñāṇa), and, in the course of existence (pavatti), at the moment of arising (uppādakkhaṇa) of a mind (citta) dissociated from joy and associated with knowledge — for them, there, the joy faculty does not arise, but it is not the case that the wisdom faculty does not arise for them there. For all at the moment of dissolution (bhaṅgakkhaṇa) of mind, at the moment of arising of a mind dissociated from joy and dissociated from knowledge, and for non-percipient beings (asaññasattā) — for them, there, the joy faculty does not arise and the wisdom faculty does not arise.
Or, for whomever, wherever, the wisdom faculty does not arise, does the joy faculty not arise for that one, there?
For those dissociated from knowledge being reborn with joy, and, in the course of existence, at the moment of arising of a mind dissociated from knowledge and associated with joy — for them, there, the wisdom faculty does not arise, but it is not the case that the joy faculty does not arise for them there. For all at the moment of dissolution of mind, at the moment of arising of a mind dissociated from knowledge and dissociated from joy, and for non-percipient beings — for them, there, the wisdom faculty does not arise and the joy faculty does not arise.
