Cakkhundarīya

Abhidhammapiṭaka · Yamaka (2) · Vol. 39 · Section 1156

[1156] For whom the eye faculty (cakkhundriya) does not arise, will the faith faculty (saddhindriya) not arise for him? For all who are passing away and for those without eyes who are being reborn — for them the eye faculty does not arise, but it is not the case that the faith faculty will not arise for them. For those attaining final Nibbāna (parinibbāna) in the five-constituent [existence] (pañcavokāra) and for those in their final existence (pacchimabhavika) in the formless [plane] (arūpa) — for them the eye faculty does not arise and the faith faculty will not arise. Or rather, for whom the faith faculty will not arise, does the eye faculty not arise for him? For those in their final existence who are being reborn into the five-constituent [existence] — for them the faith faculty will not arise, but it is not the case that the eye faculty does not arise for them. For those attaining final Nibbāna in the five-constituent [existence] and for those in their final existence in the formless [plane] — for them the faith faculty will not arise and the eye faculty does not arise.
