[1172] For whomever the masculinity faculty (purisindriya) does not arise, will the faith faculty (saddhindriya) … the wisdom faculty (paññindriya), the mind faculty (manindriya) not arise for him?
For all who are passing away, and for non-males who are being reborn, the masculinity faculty does not arise for them, but it is not the case that the mind faculty will not arise for them. For those attaining final Nibbāna (parinibbāna) in the sense sphere (kāmāvacara), and for those in their final existence (pacchimabhavika) in the form sphere (rūpāvacara) and the formless sphere (arūpāvacara), the masculinity faculty does not arise for them and the mind faculty will not arise.
Or: for whomever the mind faculty will not arise, does the masculinity faculty not arise for him?
For males in their final existence who are being reborn, the mind faculty will not arise for them, but it is not the case that the masculinity faculty does not arise for them. For those attaining final Nibbāna in the sense sphere, and for those in their final existence in the form sphere and the formless sphere, the mind faculty will not arise for them and the masculinity faculty does not arise.
