[1180] For whom the equanimity faculty (upekkhindriya) does not arise, will the wisdom faculty (paññindriya) … the mind faculty (manindriya) not arise for him?
For all at the moment of the dissolution (bhaṅgakkhaṇa) of mind (citta) and at the moment of the arising (uppādakkhaṇa) of mind dissociated from equanimity, for those who have attained cessation (nirodhasamāpanna), and for non-percipient beings (asaññasattā) — for these the equanimity faculty does not arise, but it is not the case that the mind faculty will not arise for them. At the moment of the dissolution of the final mind (pacchimacitta) associated with equanimity, and for those endowed with the final mind associated with joy (somanassa) — for these the equanimity faculty does not arise and the mind faculty will not arise.
Or else, for whom the mind faculty will not arise, does the equanimity faculty not arise for him?
At the moment of the arising of the final mind associated with equanimity — for these the mind faculty will not arise, but it is not the case that the equanimity faculty does not arise for them. At the moment of the dissolution of the final mind associated with equanimity, and for those endowed with the final mind associated with joy — for these the mind faculty will not arise and the equanimity faculty does not arise.
