[1199] For whomever, wherever, the nose faculty (ghānindriya) does not arise, will the faith faculty (saddhindriya) not arise for that one there?
For those passing away from the sense sphere (kāmāvacara), for those without a nose (aghānaka) who are being reborn into the sense sphere, and for form-sphere (rūpāvacara) and formless-sphere (arūpāvacara) beings — for them, there, the nose faculty does not arise, but it is not the case that for them, there, the faith faculty will not arise. For those attaining final Nibbāna (parinibbāna) in the sense sphere, for those in their final existence (pacchimabhavika) in the form sphere and in the formless sphere, and for non-percipient beings (asaññasatta) — for them, there, the nose faculty does not arise and the faith faculty will not arise.
Or alternatively: for whomever, wherever, the faith faculty will not arise, does the nose faculty not arise for that one there?
For those in their final existence who are being reborn into the sense sphere — for them, there, the faith faculty will not arise, but it is not the case that for them, there, the nose faculty does not arise. For those attaining final Nibbāna in the sense sphere, for those in their final existence in the form sphere and in the formless sphere, and for non-percipient beings — for them, there, the faith faculty will not arise and the nose faculty does not arise.
