Cakkhundarīya

Abhidhammapiṭaka · Yamaka (2) · Vol. 39 · Section 1328

[1328] For whomever, wherever, the joy faculty (somanassindriya) has not arisen, will the equanimity faculty (upekkhindriya) not arise for that one there? For those of the Pure Abodes (Suddhāvāsa) while the second mind (citta) is occurring, the joy faculty has not arisen for them there, but it is not the case that the equanimity faculty will not arise for them there. For non-percipient beings (asaññasatta), the joy faculty has not arisen for them there and the equanimity faculty will not arise. Or, for whomever, wherever, the equanimity faculty will not arise, has the joy faculty not arisen for that one there? For those endowed with the final mind (pacchimacitta), and for those for whom the final mind associated with joy will arise in immediate succession to [the present] mind, the equanimity faculty will not arise for them there, but it is not the case that the joy faculty has not arisen for them there. For non-percipient beings, the equanimity faculty will not arise for them there and the joy faculty has not arisen.
