[1448] Whoever did not fully understand the eye faculty (cakkhundriya), will that one not realize the perfect-knower faculty (aññātāvindriya)?
Eight persons did not fully understand the eye faculty, but it is not that they will not realize the perfect-knower faculty. Those ordinary persons (puthujjana) who will not obtain the path — they both did not fully understand the eye faculty and will not realize the perfect-knower faculty.
Or rather, whoever will not realize the perfect-knower faculty, did that one not fully understand the eye faculty?
The Arahant will not realize the perfect-knower faculty, but it is not that he did not fully understand the eye faculty. Those ordinary persons who will not obtain the path — they both will not realize the perfect-knower faculty and did not fully understand the eye faculty.
