[494] For whomever the eye faculty (cakkhundriya) arises, does the equanimity faculty (upekkhindriya) arise for that one?
For those taking rebirth possessed of the eye, without equanimity (upekkhā), the eye faculty arises for them, but the equanimity faculty does not arise for them. For those taking rebirth possessed of the eye, with equanimity, for them both the eye faculty arises and the equanimity faculty arises.
Or, for whomever the equanimity faculty arises, does the eye faculty arise for that one?
For those taking rebirth with equanimity, devoid of the eye, the equanimity faculty arises for them, but the eye faculty does not arise for them. For those taking rebirth with equanimity, possessed of the eye, for them both the equanimity faculty arises and the eye faculty arises.
