Cakkhundarīya

Abhidhammapiṭaka · Yamaka (2) · Vol. 39 · Section 495

[495] For whomever the eye faculty (cakkhundriya) arises, does the faith faculty (saddhindriya) arise for that one? For those possessing the eye who are rootless (ahetuka), as they are being reborn, the eye faculty arises for them, but the faith faculty does not arise for them. For those possessing the eye who are with roots (sahetuka), as they are being reborn, for them both the eye faculty arises and the faith faculty arises. Or rather, for whomever the faith faculty arises, does the eye faculty arise for that one? For those with roots who are without the eye, as they are being reborn, the faith faculty arises for them, but the eye faculty does not arise for them. For those with roots who possess the eye, as they are being reborn, for them both the faith faculty arises and the eye faculty arises.
