Cakkhundarīya

Abhidhammapiṭaka · Yamaka (2) · Vol. 39 · Section 496

[496] For whom the eye-faculty (cakkhundriya) arises, does the wisdom faculty (paññindriya) arise for that one? For those with eyes, dissociated from knowledge (ñāṇa), who are being reborn, the eye-faculty arises for them, but the wisdom faculty does not arise for them. For those with eyes, associated with knowledge, who are being reborn, for them both the eye-faculty arises and the wisdom faculty arises. Or rather, for whom the wisdom faculty arises, does the eye-faculty arise for that one? For those associated with knowledge, without eyes, who are being reborn, the wisdom faculty arises for them, but the eye-faculty does not arise for them. For those associated with knowledge, with eyes, who are being reborn, for them both the wisdom faculty arises and the eye-faculty arises.
