[527] "For whomever the joy faculty (somanassindriya) arises, does the mind faculty (manindriya) arise for that one?"
"Yes."
"Or rather, for whomever the mind faculty arises, does the joy faculty arise for that one?"
"For those possessing mind (sacittaka) who are being reborn without joy (somanassa), and, in the course of existence (pavatti), at the moment of arising (uppādakkhaṇa) of a mind (citta) dissociated (vippayutta) from joy — the mind faculty arises for them, but the joy faculty does not arise for them. For those being reborn with joy, and, in the course of existence, at the moment of arising of a mind associated (sampayutta) with joy — for them both the mind faculty arises and the joy faculty arises."
